| Lean way back to gather your hair for a ponytail at the crown. |

| Now swing your hair/body to the side so that you can reach the ends of your hair with your free hand. |

| Grab onto the bottom of your hair and fold it upward 6"-8" |

| Swing around to the back and fold the hair again. |

| Fold the hair once more so that it is even with the back of your head. |

| Begin twisting the clump of folded hair toward either side of your head as you spread out the pontail base that you were holding so that it is smooth going into the folded hair. You are done twisting when it feels tight/secure. |

| Insert the clip from the top middle of the formed french twist and slide it close along the scalp. This takes some practice to keep it from pulling small sections of hair too tightly. |

This version of the french twist holds fantastically with a Ficcare Innovation, and O.K. with tiny hair claws. I haven't yet mastered it using hair sticks, two prong forks, or french twist combs. (The 'do falls downward onto my neck or resembles the leaning tower of Pisa.)
If you leave less room between folds and are skillful with tucking the hair in, this version of the french twist can be done without any folds of hair hanging out of the top. |
